Help save and transform lives in the Tonkpi region

The Better Living Foundation envisions the Tonkpi Region with quality healthcare systems, clean water, schools, and microfinance resources for women.

OUR MISSION

We want to bring the HOPE and LOVE of Christ to the Tonkpi communities with quality healthcare systems, clean water, school infrastructures and supplies, microfinance activities for women, and entrepreneurial projects for youth, one at a time, starting with a medical center in the remote village of GBANLEU, located in the region’s province of Daleu.

TONKPI REGION

Dominated by mountain chains and dense forests with fertile soils, the Tonkpi is one of the most beautiful regions of Cote d’Ivoire and a major production zone for staple crops, cereals, and exports goods such as coffee, cocoa, and rubber. The Tonkpi region is also one of the most populous regions of Cote d’Ivoire, with the population estimated by the national statistics institute at 1,387,909 people in 2021 from 992,564 in 2014. Yet, the region is marked by an acute lack of basic infrastructures like roads, healthcare, clean drinking water sources, and school infrastructures. Most rural communities of the Tonkpi remain enclaved due to lack of roads to access cities, and the acute lack of adequate healthcare facilities continue to put lives in peril in the region. Long and heavy rainy seasons that characterize the region make the unpaved rural paths between hills non-passable most of the year. The dry season that follows rainy seasons is becoming more and more severe due to effects of climate change, leaving dry the backwaters on which the populations depend
